When I think about printing, I think about ink on paper.  Every office has their own printed items, and as I think about all the printed pieces of paper, the options seem endless!  But what if you need something that no one else has?  Better yet, what if you know what you need, but don’t know how to get it on that piece of paper?   To make matters more nerve wracking, there are so many initiatives for recycled and post-consumer waste papers for starters, and soy-based inks to top it off,  you could spend days working on that new business card!

There are many websites that offer opinions on how to set up and print everything from traditional printed items to trendy marketing pieces.  But I always feel more comfortable when I can talk with a knowledgeable resource.  For instance, printing professionals can help pick out just the right paper. There are endless samples, from color to texture to weight to be considered.  They know all the design principles to help put together the perfect end result, whether it is a marketing piece or an invoice.  From design to production, life is so much easier when you know your company’s image is secure in the hands of the experts.

Lastly, even when a professional is at the wheel, always request a proof!  Make sure to have someone besides yourself read it over to make sure everything is spelled correctly, and that everything flows just right.  Sometimes after writing and reading the same piece for several days, it is really easy to miss that sentence that has no verb, or that word that is misspelled!

For example, Indiana Furniture Company has executive desks in their Arlington series that are more traditional while the Madera collection is both contemporary in design and is available in a light or dark finish.

Finally, here are a couple of thoughts to keep in mind as you being designing that dream office …

• Typically these suites feature an executive desk with a credenza.  Think about storage… what will you or your executive need?
• All of the pieces should match.  Try to keep them within the same line or series.  This will allow you to create a stylish theme to run throughout the entire office, reception area, conference room and surrounding offices.

As you can imagine, executive office furniture offers many choices when creating a professional office setting. When meeting with your  designer the first step is to determine if you’re looking for a traditional office or something modern.  No matter what you decide, at the end of the day your office space should  feel comfortable and polished!
